Pre-cious love, the love of mo-ther,
귀하고도 귀하다
Broad and deep be-yond all praise!
그 사랑이 언제든지
Pre-cious love, it stirs my spir-it
나를 감싸줍니다
Gives me glad-ness all my days.
내가 울 때 어머니는
Mo-ther pray'd when I was weep-ing,
주께 기도 드리고
Made my sor-rows all her own
내가 기뻐 웃을 때에
And when I was glad and smil-ing
찬송 부르십니다
Sang her prais-es at the Throne.
2. 아침 저녁 읽으시던
Pre-cious Book, my mo-ther's Bi-ble,
어머니의 성경책
Which she read me morn and night.
손때 남은 구절 마다
Still I see her read, and, paus-ing,
모습 본 듯합니다
Call some trea-sure to my sight
믿는 자는 누구든지
“Who-so-ev-er but be-live-eth
영생함을 얻으리
Shall re-ceive e-ter-nal life."
외워주신 귀한 말씀
Pre-cious words of her re-cit-ing,
이제 힘이 됩니다
Still my strength in mor-tal strife!
3. 홀로 누워 괴로울 때
When I lie a-lone and trou-bled,
헤매다가 지칠 때
Rest-less with ex-haust-ing fears,
부르시던 찬송 소리
Mo-ther's voice, in hymns she sang me,
귀에 살아옵니다
E-choes liv-ing in my ears:
반석에서 샘물 나고
“From the rock flow springs of wa-ter
황무지가 꽃 피니
In the de-sert flow-ers grow."
예수님과 동행하면
“Those who walk the way with Je-sus
두려울 것 없어라
Need fear no-thing here be-low."
4. 온유하고 겸손하며
Mo-ther's life was sweet and hum-ble,
올바르고 굳세게
Strong and firm in do-ing right,
어머니의 뜻 받들어
I can make my life worth liv-ing
보람 있게 살리라
With her ev-er in my sight.
풍파 많은 세상에서
Mo-ther, in a world of tem-pests,
선한 싸움 싸우다
Fought the good fight all her days
생명 시내 흐르는 곳
Soon, by streams of liv-ing wa-ter,
길이 함께 살리라
I shall live with her al-ways.
