성막을 바라보면 교회의 중요성을 알게되고 예수 그리스도를 바라보게 됩니다. 하나님께서는 100규빗과
50규빗의 성막 울타리 안에 거하셨습니다. 이 울타리는 세상과 교회의 경계를 나타내었고 성막 안은 예수
그리스도의 품안을 보여주었습니다. 울타리가 생명과 삶을 보호하듯이 주님은 우리를 모든 환란에서 건져
주시고 음부의 세력이 침범하지 못하도록 보호해 주십니다. 또한 동쪽으로 난 문을 통하여 하나님께로 갈
수 있는 유일한 길인 예수 그리스도를 보여주었습니다. 양의 문인 예수님은 양같은 우리를 인도하셔서
하나님께로 나아가도록 하셨습니다.
하나님은 이러한 성막과 문의 재료와 색깔까지 의미를 가지고 만들도록 명령하셨고 이를 통하여 많은 사실을
바라보게 하셨습니다.
하나님은 성막의 첫 번째 덮개와 성소의 문을 청색, 자색, 홍색실로 엮어서 만들도록 하셨습니다.
첫째, 청색은 생명을 의미합니다. 주님의 문은 부활과 생명의 문입니다. 주님의 문으로 들어가면 생명을 얻게
되고 이 생명은 더욱 풍성하게 되며 영원히 보호받게 된다는 의미입니다.
둘째, 자색은 왕을 의미합니다. 옛날 통치자는 자주색의 옷을 입었습니다. 교회에 나아오는 것은 온 인류의
왕이신 주님의 문을 통과하여 가치있고 영광스러운 삶을 살게 되는 것입니다.
셋째, 홍색은 십자가의 보혈을 의미합니다. 주님의 보혈만이 우리를 죄에서 정결케 하며 하나님의 진노에서
우리를 가리워 눈보다 더 희게 씻어주시는 것입니다.
인간의 모든 저주는 이 문을 떠나 밖으로 나갈 때에 생겨나게 됩니다. 교회를 떠난 민족들이 부끄러움과 환란
속에서 헤매이는 것을 볼 수 있습니다. 교회를 떠나 공산주의를 따라 나아갔던 소련, 동독, 폴란드, 헝가리같은
나라들은 폐허가 되었고 세계 5대 철강국이고 세계적인 문화의 나라였던 체코도 망하고 말았습니다. 또한 동방의
땅으로 불리며 거룩한 땅으로 교회가 부흥했던 북한의 평양도 유령의 도시처럼 변했고 매일 탈북자들이 생겨나는
죽음과 고통의 장소로 변하고 말았습니다. 인간은 하나님의 축복을 받으면 교만하기 쉽고 주님의 품을 떠나 세상의
유혹을 받는 것입니다. 교회를 떠나면, 주님을 떠나면 이런 비극이 찾아올 수 밖에 없습니다.
일단 성소의 문을 통과하여 들어가면 번제단, 물두멍, 성막이 나오는데 이것들도 의미가 있습니다.
첫째, 번제단은 양을 잡는 곳입니다. 구약에는 불완전한 번제단으로 짐승을 제물로 드렸지만 신약에 와서는
하나님의 아들이 우리의 제물 되심으로 모든 인류가 단번에 들어가는 믿음의 문이 되셨습니다.
둘째, 물두멍은 손발을 씻는 곳입니다. 양의 피로 죄를 사해도 손발을 씻어야 그 안으로 들어갈 수 있습니다.
하나님의 자녀가 되어도 세상에 나가면 마음이 더러워지고 양심을 속일 때도 있는데 이런 모든 죄를 교회에서
예배를 통하여 씻으라는 말입니다.
셋째, 성막을 덮는 4가지 덮개가 있습니다. 각 덮개는 세마포, 염소털, 수양가죽, 해달가죽으로 만들었습니다.
세마포 덮개는 청색, 자색, 홍색의 실로 엮어서 만들었으며 생명과 왕의 영광과 보혈로 우리를 덮어주시는 은혜를
보여줍니다. 염소털 덮개는 하얀색으로 되어 있으며 성결과 정결, 하나님의 거룩함으로 우리를 덮어주심을 보여
줍니다. 수양가죽 덮개는 붉게 물들였는데 역시 주님의 보혈이 교회를 덮고 있음을 보여줍니다. 해달가죽, 즉
물개가죽 덮개는 보잘 것 없은 색깔로 이루어졌는데 이것은 가난하고 궁핍한 자와 함께 하시고 십자가를 지시면
서도 초라하고 보잘 것 없는 주님의 삶을 보여줍니다.
성도는 축복을 받을수록 겉으로 드러내지 않고 겸손하게 간직할 때에 그 축복이 성막 안의 온갖 금으로 장식해서
표현한 하나님의 영광처럼 세상 끝날까지 빛나게 될 줄로 믿습니다.
JESUS CHRIST AND THE TABERNACLE(Heb. 9:11-14, 10:19-25)
The Tabernacle gives us an illustration of the great importance of the Church and
Jesus Christ. Inside the fence of the Tabernacle there was the presence of God. The
fence of the Tabernacle served as a boarder between the world and the Church, while
the innermost part was a representation of the bosom of Jesus Christ. As a fence
protects the lives and property of the people, the Lord in the same way keeps us away
from trouble and protects us from the curse of hell. The only gate at the eastern side
of the Tabernacle represents Jesus Christ who is the only way to the Father. Jesus is
the only Gate where we, His sheep, can enter to come closer to the Father.
God's instruction was to make the Tabernacle and its gate with special materials
and colors that had specific, significant meanings. He therefore ordered the Jews to
make the first cover of the Tabernacle and its gate with weaves of blue, purple and
scarlet yarns. The blue color represented life, since the Lord is the gate to resurrection
and life. Entering through this gate meant receiving life to its fullest and life
everlasting. The purple color represented the kingship of Jesus Christ. Kings in those
days wore garments of purple signifying their royalty. Likewise, when we come to
Church, we enter through the Gate, Jesus Christ, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
The Church of Jesus Christ brings us to a worthy and glorious life. The red color
represented the Blood of Jesus shed on the cross. Only His blood cleansed us from all
our sins. Only His blood appeases the wrath of God. Only His blood washed us of our
sins making us white as snow.
Outside the Gate, people suffer from all the curses of life. The People and nations
that left the Church suffered and wandered in the midst of trouble and embarrassment.
Russia, East Germany, Poland and Hungary are some examples of countries that left the
Church and followed the teachings of communism. Even Czechoslovakia, which used to
be the fifth largest steel producer in the world with a progressive culture, collapsed.
Pyongyang of North Korea was once called the Jerusalem of the East because it used
to be filled with Churches. Now, it is ghost town, a place full of death and suffering.
Everyday, many people try to flee North Korea to escape from indescribable hardship of
life there. It's ironic that people who have enjoyed the blessings of God become proud
and turn away from God. They succumb to temptations, being lured into the pleasures
of this world. When we leave the Church and turn away from God, there is no way to
escape from sorrow and misery.
Upon entering the sanctuary there was the altar for burnt offering, the basin, and
the Tabernacle having specific significance and meaning. The Altar of the burnt offering
was the place to offer the sacrificial lamb. In Old Testament times, sacrificial and burnt
offerings were imperfect. Under the New Dispensation, the sacrificial offering for the
sins of all men is the Son of God Himself, who is the perfect sacrifice bringing us
eternal salvation. The basin was used to wash the hands and feet of those entering the
Tabernacle. It reminds us that the children of God can still be contaminated by sin in
this world, so we need to be cleansed through our continuous sacrifice of worship of
Jesus in the Church.
Finally, there were four coverings for the Tabernacle. Each covering was made of
finely twisted linen, goat's hair, ram's skin and sea cow's skin. The fine linen covering
was made of blue, purple and scarlet yarns. It demonstrated God's favor to us by
giving us the covering of life, the Blood of Jesus and of His glory as King. The
covering of goat's hair was white to show the purity and holiness of the glory of God
that covered His people. The covering made of ram's skin was red to illustrate the
Blood of Jesus covering the Church. The covering made of sea cow skin was poorly
colored, illustrating the life of the Lord here on earth. He lived in poverty and identified
with the poor and needy. All the gold decorations in the Tabernacle are illustrations of
Christians who shine with the glory of God when they learn to live in humility while
enjoying the blessings of God.
