사랑하는 아버지 하나님. 주님께서 거룩하게 하신 날, 주님 앞에 기쁜 마음으로 예배하러 나온 주님의 자녀들을 축복하여 주시옵소서. 거짓을 버리고 불의를 끊어내며, 오직 진리와 은혜 가운데 바르게 살아가기를 원합니다. 십자가에 흘리신 보혈로 정결케 하여 주시옵소서. 진정한 은혜를 누리게 하옵소서. 오늘 예배 중에 함께 하셔서, 영광 홀로 받아 주시옵소서. 예배드리는 저희들에게는 주님의 은혜를 얻게 하옵소서. 예수님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
O loving God. Bless your children who came to worship you in the day you sanctified. We want to discard unjustice and live with the truth and grace. Purify us with the blood of the Cross. Let us enjoy your grace. Be with us in this worship and let your name be glorified. In Jesus' name, Amen.

기도를 들으시는 하나님 God who answers to our Prayer
시편 Psalm 81

우리 능력 되신 하나님께 높이 노래하며, 야곱의 하나님께 즐거이 소리할지어다. 시를 읊고 소고를 치고 아름다운 수금에 비파를 아우를지어다. 월삭과 월망과 우리의 절일에 나팔을 불지어다. .... 너희 중에 다른 신을 두지 말며, 이방신에게 절하지 말지어다. 나는 너를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 여호와 네 하나님이니, 네 입을 넓게 열라. 내가 채우리라 하였으나, 내 백성이 내 소리를 듣지 아니하며, 이스라엘이 나를 원치 아니하였도다. ...

내 백성이 나를 청종하며, 이스라엘이 내 도 행하기를 원하노라. 그리하면 내가 속히 저희 원수를 제어하며, 내 손을 돌려 저희 대적을 치리니, ... 내가 또 밀의 아름다운 것으로 저희에게 먹이며, 반석에서 나오는 꿀로 너를 만족케 하리라 하셨도다. If my people would but listen to me, if Israel would follow my ways, how quickly would I stubdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes! Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever. But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.

우리가 어떤 기도 제목을 가지고 간구할 때, 하나님께서 들으시는 것으로 생각합니다. 만일 자기의 기도제목이 이루어지면 ‘응답 받았다’ 생각합니다. God listens to us when we pray. With the fulfillment of the prayer, we think God answered. 

그리스도인의 특권은, 우리의 기도가 하나님께 응답 받는 것입니다. 허공에 대고 소리친 것과 다릅니다. 우리는 하나님의 음성을 듣습니다. 우리가 낸 소리를 듣는 메아리와 같지 않습니다. 우리는 하나님의 말씀을 듣습니다. God answers to Christians. Instead of shouting to the air, we get answer from God. Our prayer is not like an echo; we hear the voice of God.

우리는 버려진 사람들이 아닙니다. 우리는 하나님의 자녀입니다. 성도는 이 자아의식에 분명해야 합니다. We are not discarded. We are the children of God. We Christians are to be clear in this identification.

그런데, 우리의 기도가 예상했던 대로 응답되지 않을 수가 있습니다. 다음과 같은 경우일 때입니다. Sometimes, however, God does not answer as we expect. In the following cases, we cannot get God's answer. 

1. 구하면서 의심을 풀지 않을 때입니다.
구하나 마나 입니다. “오직 믿음으로 구하고, 조금도 의심하지 말라. 의심하는 자는 마치 바람에 밀려 요동하는 바다 물결 같으니, 이런 사람은 무엇이든지 주께 얻기를 생각하지 말라. 두 마음을 품어 모든 일에 정함이 없는 자로다.” (야고보서 1:6-7)
1. When we pray with doubt
It is no better than no prayer. "But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does" (James 1:6-7)

의심하는 사람은 두 개의 마음을 품은 사람이라는 말입니다. 이런 사람은 하나님께로부터 인정하심을 받지 못합니다. 또한, 사람에게도 인정받지 못합니다.
He who doubts is double-minded. God does not recognize such a person. People also do not give him any trust.

2. 하나님 보실 때 옳지 않을 때입니다.
우리 눈에는 옳아 보이지만, 우리가 잘못 판단한 것일 수가 있습니다. 그러니까, 우리가 좋아서 선택하는 것이, 하나님의 입장에서는 아닐 수도 있습니다. 이런 경우, 하나님께서는 우리 기도를 듣지 않으십니다. 옳지 않은 우리의 기도를 들으심으로써 하나님께서 옳지 않은 일을 행하시는 경우가 되기 때문입니다.
2. When what we ask is not right in God's eyes.
In our eyes, it may be right, but it is not so in God's perspective. If not right, God would not listen to us in prayers.

3. 순서가 바뀌었을 때입니다.
지금 그것이 급하지 않고, 다른 것이 먼저 해결되었어야 하는 것 말입니다.
물론, 하나님께서는 전능하시니까, 모든 것을 한꺼번에 해결하실 수가 있습니다. 그러나, 우리는 그렇지 못합니다. 순서가 제대로 되어야 합니다.
3. The sequence is be reversed. 
What we ask is not so important this moment; other things must be resolved. To be creative, things are to be arranged in order.

요새 베이 지역의 어떤 식당을 광고하는데, “같은 재료라도 들어가는 순서에 따라서 맛이 달라질 수 있다”고 합디다. 사실 그렇지요?
There is a commercial copy statement of a Korean restaurant in Bay area, saying, "Even the same materials, the sequence makes big difference in taste."

따라서. 지금 우리가 구하는 것이, 당장 필요한 것이 아니라, 다른 무엇이 먼저 해결되어야 하는 수가 있다는 것입니다. 하나님께서는 그런 기도를 듣지 않으십니다.
Ignoring the priority, we sometimes ask for something not so urgent. God does not follow us.

4. 목적이 잘못되었을 때입니다.
“너희가 욕심을 내어도 얻지 못하고, 살인하며 시기하여도 능히 취하지 못하나니, 너희가 다투고 싸우는도다. 너희가 얻지 못함은 구하지 아니함이요, 구하여도 받지 못함은 정욕으로 쓰려고 잘못 구함이니라.” (야고보서 4:2-3)
4. When motivations are wrong.
You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures (James 4:2-3)

정욕으로 쓰려고 구할 때는, 아무리 좋은 것이라도 허락해 주시지 않습니다.
내용보다 더 중요한 것은 목적입니다.
No matter how good it be, if the motivation is not good, God would not listen to us.

예수님께서는 구함에 대하여 이렇게 가르치셨습니다: “너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라. 그리하면 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더하시리라. 그러므로 내일 일을 위하여 염려하지 말라. 내일 일은 내일 염려할 것이요, 한 날 괴로움은 그 날에 족하니라.” (마태복음 6:33-34).
Jesus taught us: "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own" (Matthew 6:33-34)


오늘 본문 시편 81편입니다.
“내 백성이 나를 청종하며, 이스라엘이 내 도 행하기를 원하노라. 그리하면 내가 속히 저희 원수를 제어하며, 내 손을 돌려 저희 대적을 치리니” (시 81:13-14)
Let's go back to our scripture, Psalm 81. "If my people would but listen to me, if Israel would follow my ways, how quickly would I subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes! (Psalm 81:13).

우리 원수가 누구며, 우리 대적이 무엇입니까? 날마다 우리가 상대해야 하는 ‘문제들’ 아닙니까?
Who are our enemies and foes? They are the problems we are to face each day.

우리가 하나님의 말씀을 순종하면, 그런 ‘문제들’을 하나님께서 ‘알아서’ 해결해 주신다는 말씀입니다.
God understands the problems and treats them properly, only if we listen to him and obey the Word of God.

우리는 한 가지 모르는 것이 있습니다. 우리가 말하기 전에는 하나님께서 모르시리라는 생각입니다. 그러나, 우리가 말하지 않아도, 하나님께서는 먼저 다 아십니다. 그러므로, 우리가 정작 중요한 것은, 무엇을 구하는 것보다, 하나님의 말씀을 순종하고 살아가는 일입니다. 그러면, 나머지는 하나님께서 알아서 해주십니다.
What we misunderstand is: God knows not before our prayer. Before asking, however, God knows all of us. The priority is to be given in our obedience to the Word instead of asking.

새옹지마라는 이야기가 있습니다. 당장 행복해 보여도, 기다려 봐야 하는 것입니다. 지금 불행이 닥쳤어도, 두고 봐야 아는 것입니다. We know an old story of an old man in China with a mare. With misfortune, we shall not be unhappy because we do not know what the misfortune turn out to be. Today's fortune is also not the same tomorrow. We have to wait for God's answer.

문제는 하나님께서 우리 앞에 당한 일들을 어떻게 ‘이용하셔서’ 선한 일을 보이실 것인가? 여기 달렸습니다. 이렇게 ‘하나님의 선하심을 기다리는 사람’은, 먼저 하나님 기쁘신 일을 한 사람들입니다. What we have to matter is how God works with all these things and create a new and good thing for us. Those who wait for God's goodness are those who do all the things for God's pleasure.

하나님께서 기뻐하시는 일이 무엇입니까? “내 백성이 나를 청종하며, 이스라엘이 내 도 행하기를 원하노라!” 예. 하나님의 말씀을 날마다 읽고 매 순간마다 묵상하는 일입니다.
In which do you believe God would be pleased most? "If my people sould but listen to me; Israel would follow my ways" (Ps 81:13). Yes, it is to read the Bible daily and meditate it every moment.

아침 일찍, 하루가 시작될 때, 무엇을 계산해서 기도 드리기보다는, 하나님께 맡기는 것이 옳습니다. 하루가 마감되는 저녁에도, 하나님의 인도하심을 돌아보며 감사기도 드리는 것이 옳습니다. 모든 일에 감사드리는 것이 좋습니다. Early in the morning, as you start a new day, trust in God instead of count on your own idea. Late in the evening, as you go to bed, you had better give thanks in all things.


시편 81:16입니다. “내가 또 밀의 아름다운 것으로 저희에게 먹이며, 반석에서 나오는 꿀로 너를 만족케 하리라” 하셨습니다. 이것 또한 마땅히 우리가 구한 것이 아닙니다. 하나님께서 우리에게 가장 선하고 귀한 것을 판단하시고, 은혜로써 주시는 것입니다. Read Psalm 81:16: "But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you." This is not what we asked for. God understood what we need most, and give us as grace. 

이쯤해서 우리의 생활 속에 적용해 볼 수 있겠습니다. Let us apply this to our daily lives.

우리에게 가장 좋은 것은 하나님께서 더 잘 아십니다. 따라서, 그것을 하나님께 맡기고 기도하는 것이 좋습니다. God knows better what we need. Trust in God in our prayer, and seek for what God pleases.

그런데, 한 가지 숙제가 남습니다. 그러면, 우리에게 당한 문제를 하나님께 직접 구할 필요가 없다는 말입니까? 소경 된 사람들이 예수님께 부르짖었거나, 12년 동안 혈루병을 앓던 여자가 예수님 옷자락을 만진 것을 어떻게 이해할까요? 그들의 필요(need)를 직접 주님께 구하지 않았던가요? 그것을 주님께서는 “네 믿음이 너를 구원했다!” 라고 평가하지 않으셨던가요? One problem still remains. Is there no need for us to seek for what we face now? How can we understand the blind men asked for Jesus and the woman with the bleeding disease of 12 years touched the clothes of Jesus? Did they not ask Jesus for their current need? Did Jesus not evaluate their faith and say, "Your faith saved you!"? 

그렇습니다. 소경 된 사람이나 혈루병 여인 같은 사람들은, 저들의 병이 낫는 것을 주님께서 원하심을 알았습니다. 그리고, 그 병의 나음을 통해서 하나님께 영광을 돌릴 수 있음을 알았습니다. 그들은 주님께서 병을 고쳐주셨을 때, 사람들에게 간증하여 하나님께 영광을 돌렸습니다. Yes. They knew that Jesus wanted their being healed. They knew that through the healing, they could glorify God. And when Jesus healed them, they glorified the name of God as they shared the miracle stories with people.

다시 말하면, 우리에게 질병 등 ‘문제’가 생겼을 때, 그것을 위하여 기도할 때는, 적어도 ‘주님께서는 이 병이 나을 것을 원하신다. 이 병을 고침 받음으로써 나는 주님께 영광을 돌려드린다.’ 이런 동기가 분명해야 하는 것입니다. In other words, when we pray for our problems like sickness, our motive for the prayer is to be clear in glorifying God.

우리가 경제적으로 어려움을 겪을 때, 주님께서 이 문제를 해결해 주시기를 원하신다고 믿습니까? 그 문제를 해결함으로써 주님께 어떻게 영광을 돌려드리겠습니까? In your financial problem, do you believe in Jesus who wants to resolve your hardship? With the answer, how would you glorify God?

그래서 ‘서원기도’라는 것이 생겼습니다. 자식이 병들어 신음할 때, 의사도 고치기 어렵다고 할 때, “하나님. 이 아들을 고쳐주시면 하나님께 온전히 바치겠습니다!” 그렇게 ‘서원기도’ 하는 것입니다. Here, there is a vow prayer. When your doctors say, "We cannot treat your son," you pray to God, "O God, if you heal him, I will devote him!" 

여기서 서원기도는 반드시 지켜야 합니다. 그 기도를 통해서 나았다면, 무슨 일이 있어도 지켜야 합니다. You must make good for the vow prayer. 

어떤 할아버지 전도사님이 70이 넘어서 목회지로 나가면서, 나에게 이런 말을 했습니다. “나는 20대 때 공산당에게 쫓기면서 하나님께 서원기도 했습니다. 나를 살려주시면 하나님의 일을 하겠다고!” An 70 year old man minister spoke to me when he started a new church: "I made a vow prayer to God in my early 20s when I was chasing by a group of North Korean soldiers that I would serve God as a minister."

하나님께서는 기적을 통해서 그 할아버지를 살려주셨습니다. 그런데, 할아버지는 건축 일을 하면서 수많은 교회를 지었습니다. 그러면서 “이렇게 대신 교회를 지었으니 하나님께서 이해해 주실 거야!” 그랬습니다. God saved the old man. But the old man build a number of church buildings. And he talked to himself: "God would excuse me because I built those churches." 

그러나, 끝내 하나님께서는 그 할아버지를 원하셨습니다. 그래서 나이 70에 개척교회로 나가면서, 회한의 눈물을 흘렸습니다. 그 귀한 세월 다 그냥 보내고 이제 주님 앞에 나아가는 죄를 회개했습니다. God, however, wanted himself. The old new minister dropped tears as he spoke to me. "I spent such good young years escaping from God's calling. Now I am repenting the sin." 

여러분은 지나간 세월 동안 하나님께 서원기도를 드리지 않았습니까? 급할 때, “하나님, 이것만 해결해 주시면, 제가 무엇을 하겠습니다!” 그렇게 기도하지 않았습니까? 서원한 것은 갚아드려야 합니다. 꼭 그렇게 해야 합니다. Have you not had vow prayers during the past walk of the valley of death? Didn't you say, "O God, if you save me this time, I would devote my life for you!"? You must make good of what you vowed.

정리합니다.
하나님께 맡기고, 말씀생활에 충실하게 살아야 합니다. 구체적으로 기도할 것이 생기거든 서원기도를 드리십시오. 그리고 불리하다고 생각되더라도 서원한 것은 꼭 갚으십시오. Trust in God, and live faithful to the Word of God. With a certain problem, make a vow prayer to God. And make good for what you have vowed in any circumstances. 

"어떻게 해 주시면 이렇게 하겠습니다." 이런 ‘조건’을 다는 기도보다 한 단계 위의 기도가 있습니다. 미리 감사드리는 것입니다. There is a higher level prayer than a vow prayer: thanksgiving prayer before God's answer.

어떤 젊은 목사님의 설교를 듣고 감동 받았습니다. 방언기도를 하고싶은데, 잘 안되었습니다. “주여, 주님께 무엇을 드릴까요?” 그래서 결혼식 반지를 헌금함에 드렸습니다. 바로 그 자리에서 방언을 하게 되었습니다. 그 목사님은 가는 곳마다 하나님의 은혜를 체험하고 있습니다. Recently, I heard a young pastor's excellent sermon. He wanted speaking tongue. He donated his marriage ring without discussing with his wife. Just after the offering, he got the Spirit and could speak tongue. A number of young Christians have been touched by the young pastor. 

모든 것을 다 아시는 하나님께서 우리 앞에 계십니다. 우리는 임마누엘의 은혜를 체험하고 살아갑니다. 말씀생활로 주님을 기다리며 살아가는 것은 참 아름답습니다. 서원 드린 것은 갚아야 합니다. 미리 감사부터 드리고 살아가는 삶은 참 귀한 것입니다. God of Immanuel is with us. It is worthwhile for us to wait for God. Vow prayer is good; thanksgiving prayer in advance is better.

말씀대로 살아가면서, 설령 하나님께서 우리 기도를 들어주시지 않아도 우리는 하나님을 배반할 수 없다는 기도가 가장 높은 차원의 기도입니다. “그리 아니하실지라도!”의 기도입니다. 다니엘의 세 친구가 드린 기도입니다. "만일 그럴 것이면 왕이여, 우리가 섬기는 우리 하나님이 우리를 극렬히 타는 풀무 가운데서 능히 건져내시겠고, 왕의 손에서도 건져내시리이다. 그리 아니하실지라도, 왕이여, 우리가 왕의 신들을 섬기지도 아니하고, 왕의 세우신 금 신상에게 절하지도 아니할 줄을 아옵소서. Let me introduce the highest level prayer: "even if he does not!" This was what the three friends of Daniel made (Daniel 3:1-23). "If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up" (Daniel 3:17-18).

하나님께서, 지금 내가 (혹은, 내 상황이) 원하는 방식대로 응답하지 않으셔도, 나는 주님을 배반할 수 없습니다! I cannot betray God even if God does not answer as I and my situation want. 

나는 이런 최상의 차원의 기도를 드리는 금문성도가 되시기를 축복합니다. I bless all of you so that you could pray with this highest level of faith.

기도할 때마다 들어주시는 하나님 아버지, 은혜와 사랑으로써 언제나 돌보아 주시는 우리 주 하나님께 감사와 영광과 찬송을 돌려드립니다. 아멘. May the God our Father who answers us to our prayers with grace and love be glorified with much thanksgivings and praise. Amen.

기도 Prayer
은혜로우신 주님. 저희들이 기도할 때 응답해 주시니 참 감사드립니다. 언제나 말씀하여 주시고, 그 말씀대로 순종하게 하옵소서. 예수님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘. Gracious Lord, we thank you for asnwering us in our prayers. Tell us your Words and let us obey each of them. In Jesus' name, Amen.
